Governance in Open Multi-Agent Systems

This research group (e-Governance) aims to address questions regarding the engineering of complex multi-agent systems using the idea of norms. The group puts together researchers of five different universities (PUC-Rio, IME-RJ, UFCG, UofW and LIP6).

Groupware@LES

Groupware@LES é um grupo de pesquisa e desenvolvimento de tecnologias de groupware. É coordenado pelo Professor Hugo Fuks (Departamento de Informática da PUC-Rio) e composto por pesquisadores e estudantes de doutorado, mestrado e graduação. Groupware@LES faz parte dos projetos do Laboratório de Engenharia de Software (LES), que por sua vez é coordenado pelo Professor Carlos José Pereira de Lucena.

Requirements Engineering

Requirements Engineering é um grupo de pesquisa sobre Engenharia de Requisitos, que estuda os processos de Elicitação, Modelagem, Validação e Gerência de Requisitos. É coordenado pelo Professor Julio Cesar Sampaio Leite (Departamento de Informática da PUC-Rio) e composto por estudantes de doutorado e mestrado. O grupo esta alocado no Laboratório de Engenharia de Software (LES).

Multi-Agent Systems for Medicine and Computational Biology

This research group aims to apply the agent technology for medicine and computational biology. The agent technology enhance the ability to model, design, and build complex, inherently distributed, but highly adaptable and cooperative software systems in medicine and computational biology that support the automation of medical and biological procedures and data processing as well as data mining or even biological models. Hence, the agent technology helps the physicians in the clinical decision analysis. While it is essential for computer scientists and software developers to understand the specific problems in medicine and biology, it is also essential for an expert of either domain to understand the capabilities of agent technology. The group puts together researchers of software engineering for multi-agent systems and physicians.

Self-Adaptive and Self-Organizing Multi-Agent Systems

This research group aims to address challenges related with Software Engineering for Self-Adaptive and Self-Organizing Multi-Agent Systems. Self-adaptive systems can (re)-configure themselves, augment their functionalities, continually optimize themselves, protect themselves and recovery themselves. Self-organizing systems changes its internal organization to adapt to changes in its goals and the environment without explicit external control. Multi-agent systems can be regarded as a technique to model, design, and implement open and evolutionary system where agents can enter and leave any time and has capabilities like: autonomy, learning, reasoning and pro-activity. In this context, MAS provides a technique for specification, development and simulation of self-adaptive and self-organizing systems.

Intentional Ubiquitous, Pervasive and Mobile Computing

This research group investigates a Systematic Development Approach for Ubiquitous, Pervasive, and Mobile Computing based on Intentional Multi-Agent Systems.

We develop some experiments in different cognitive domains using emergent technologies such as Intentional and Collaborative Multi-Agent Systems, Distributed Intentionality (i* Framework),Goal-Orientation, JADE-LEAP Platform, JADEX Framework, BDI Model, and Softgoal Interdependence Graph (SIG).
